DC Black Broadway brings its award winning adaptation of The Wizard of Oz infused with the official music of DC, Go-Go, to the historical Lincoln Theatre during its 100 Year Anniversary!
Dorothy, also known as “Dottie,” born and raised in North Carolina, wants to attend Howard University, her mother’s alma mater, but knows nothing about Washington, DC or the culture. Her graduation party is interrupted by a tornado that sweeps her off to a magical land where only The Giz can help her get back home. She meets new friends, the Scarecrow, Tin Ma, Lion and an evil foe that will make her journey to Chocolate City an adventure to remember!

Set in Washington, DC in the late 1980s with the energy, music and dancing that unapologetically celebrates the richness and pride of DC culture, Go-Go music. Candy, the good girl, and Disco Dan, the cool tough guy have a sweet summer romance only to meet again at the same high school come fall. Candy just wants to fit in while Disco Dan tries to keep his bad boy image in tact. A big dance contest has everyone battling for the crown. Cliques collide and history is made when the best dance crew is chosen!

CONFESSIONS OF A SIDE CHICK

Confession of a Side Chick takes place in the inner city where Cassandra Cane, a hard-working mother of one, who is also a paycheck from being broke, struggles as a single parent. Her biggest obstacle is not money or her daughter, but her love for a man who only wants her on a part-time basis to fulfill his needs. In addition to circumstances which create a very unhealthy lifestyle for both her and her daughter, she is also holding on to a secret that only they know. Cassandra’s life takes a turn as a sudden tragic event changes the complexity of her deplorable situation, and a caring overlooked soul becomes the main attraction. The question is does Cassandra continue living as the side chick or does the secret she has kept for a man who doesn’t really love her, come full circle and change the overall dynamic of the scenario. After seeing this play, you will understand why you will never know a person’s situation completely from the outside looking in. This is one play that will have you on the edge of your seat until the very end. We also have an all-star cast including BET Sunday’s Best winner Y’anna Crawley, Washington native/HBO actor Anwan “Big G” Glover, the hilarious actor/comedian Omar Terell, and breakout internet sensation Dremon Cooper. In addition, Pastor Keith Battle from Zion Church, who just published his book Side Chickology will be at the Lincoln the day of the play. Confessions of a Side Chick is written by Lovail Long, Vernon O. Williams III, and, Salahuddin Mahdi, produced by Lovail Long and directed by Vernon O. Williams III of DC Black Broadway (DCBB). This stage play is sure to leave you with a different perspective on what it means to be a side chick and what some women have to experience to find true love.

THE GIZ - GO GO MUSICAL
Dorothy, (also known as “Dottie”), a young lady, born and raised in North Carolina, wants to attend college at Howard University in Washington, DC. Dorothy’s grandmother, fearful of big city life is hesitant of letting her go. However, curious about her father's Washingtonian roots and his love of Go-Go Music, Dorothy insist on going. After a heated discussion Dorothy goes outside to cool off. She the gets caught in a thunderstorm and transported to a mysterious place called Munchkin Land (PG County, MD). She soon learns that her only way back home is with the help of a powerful wizard in Chocolate City called “The Giz”. As she goes searching for him, along with her chaperone “WB”, she befriends a few lovable characters who are facing their own challenges in life. In their quest to find The Giz, they also encounter the Wicked Witch of Waldorf, who may be their biggest obstacle in achieving their goals.

Blinded by being comfortable and the repetition of married life, Marc is blindsided by his lack! What Your Man Won’t Do is a ride of drama and laughs that will hold you tight, stir you up and reveal how love can fail when distracted, but conquers all in the end!

Through-out Sheila's pursuit for freedom she realizes that her marital issues aren't half the drama that she has made it out to be after being exposed to the other couples deeper troubles!!
